It is 2021 and I'm running for re-election!
The past four years have literally flown by, and despite trying circumstances, James City County is doing well. The political rancor of the past has been overcome, the Board of Supervisors has worked well together, and the benefit to our citizens has been significant.
In 2020 I had the honor of being elected Chair of the Board of Supervisors for the second year in a row. It turned out to be the year of COVID 19, and the demands and pressures on local government were immense. We have weathered the financial storm that reduced our revenues by about 10% while maintaining high quality services for our citizens. We are well ahead of both the state and national averages in the percentage of our citizens who have had at least their first vaccination. Our capacity to vaccinate our citizens far outstrips the available supply of vaccine, and once the supply of vaccine increases, we should be able to get everyone vaccinated in short order.
It has been a privilege to serve the citizens of our county on the Board of Supervisors, and I earnestly ask your support to continue that service for another term.
As your Supervisor I will:
Continue our recovery from Covid-19. I'll fight for our share of resources so we can get "back to normal" as soon as possible.
Protect James City County's natural and historic resources. We are a growing community, and decisions on our future need to be made by residents, not developers.
Ensure the County's financial stability. We've weathered Covid-19 better than many areas, and that's because we have sound fiscal policies that allow for a rainy day. I'll continue that strong fiscal management.
